Super Libre Winter Series at PF

Raceday came about and Phil wasn’t expecting much because of the engine problem, but was going to use the races as opportunities to get used to the racing and other drivers. In the first heat Phil was on pole, for about 100 yards!! He left the smallest of gaps from the grass going into the first hairpin and got nailed by Josh Mullholand. He slid onto the slippy tarmac and was on the outside going into the second hairpin, he looked back and there was not even a hint of a gap. He tried to hold it around the outside of the corner but a kart crashed into the side of him, dropping him to 17th!

Super Libre/Formula A

After that Phil tried his best to make up some places but his engine was terrible, he fell further and further behind the pack ahead of him. Just to add insult to injury, three laps from the end his air box fell off, so he drove the remaining laps one-handed and only lost 3 tenths a lap!
For the second heat Phil was starting down in 24th, and after putting the best engine he had on, was hoping for a better result. Going over the start line Phil left a massive gap so that he could clear the crashes. This paid off massively as about 5 karts spun out and Phil picked the places up gratefully! The engine was miles better and the kart was working well as Phil clawed his way up to 9th, which he was really pleased with.

In the final, Phil started around 18th and the start was relatively clean, although Phil dropped a couple of places by being shoved wide, he got his head down an got into 15th which is were he finished jus behind Ryan Cole who had been ballistic on Saturday. Phil was pretty pleased about the weekend, he was 2 tenths off the fastest lap in the final and is defiantly looking forward to the next round at Shennington!
