3 Sisters Round 11

The programme read that Phil had a 4th position and a 20th, which was pretty good as that was looking good for at least one high placed finish. From 4th place Phil took the lead from Caudle on lap two and drove into the distance with James Duxbury coming through to 3rd, with Caudle separating the two.

The second heat was always going to be difficult coming from 20th, especially on the valley circuit, were first corner pile-ups aren’t exactly rare! Phil got caught up in it going up the valley but managed to stay on finishing 6th, with Duxbury scoring a 2nd. With the place differences in each race, Duxbury was sure to take pole, and he did. Phil lined up alongside him in 2nd and Napier took 3rd on the grid.

Going over the line Phil had more momentum than Duxbury so thought he would try a move around the outside on the first corner on the brakes, but Duxbury was committed and Phil had to settle for 2nd. The two simply drove away from the rest of the field and had a fantastic battle, according to Gary, the commentator, the best battle of the day! The two chopped and changed in fantastic style with no more than two kart lengths between them all the way. Going into the last lap no-one could have guessed the winner, it was that close! Phil was leading and going down the valley for the final time Duxbury made the smallest of mistakes, but he dropped back 4 kart lengths, and Phil took the flag to make it four wins in a row!!
